Courage to Stand
International Pathfinder Camporee
August 11-15, 2009
Historic Adventist Village Tour Application
Welcome to the Historic Adventist Village 2009 Camporee Webpage!
Make this trip even more memorable for each Pathfinder by scheduling a stop at Historic Adventist Village on your way to or from Osh Kosh. Discover why our pioneers had Courage to Stand.
We have planned exciting programs especially for Pathfinders, with activities and stories designed to help them connect with their Adventist roots and with Jesus.
Battle Creek, Michigan, for many years the headquarters of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, is packed full of wonderful places to see. Visit the home where Ellen G. White wrote the first edition of The Great Controversy. and go upstairs to her bedroom and experience the room where angels often visited. Sing early Adventist hymns in the replicated 1857 Meeting House, sitting on the very benches that our pioneers sat on. Explore a curious world of health machines at the John Harvey Kellogg Discovery Center. Relive the excitement in the Parkville Church where Ellen White had a dramatic vision predicting the American Civil War before it even began. And don’t forget the Hardy Exhibit where you can actually climb into a box like the ones that were used to help slaves escape to freedom 150 years ago.
While you are in Battle Creek you will also want to visit the Oak Hill Cemetery, where the Whites and Kelloggs, Uriah Smith, and Sojourner Truth are buried. You won’t want to miss the spectacular, larger-than-life statue of Sojourner Truth and the Underground Railroad Monument, featuring Harriet Tubman - the “Black Moses”. And, of course, you’ll want to see the famous old Battle Creek Sanitarium, and the Battle Creek Tabernacle.
