Approaching the Site from the West

If approaching the William Miller farm from Albany, NY, take I-87 to exit 20. Take Highway 149 east to Fort Ann. From Fort Ann, take Highway 4 to Whitehall. From Whitehall go six miles (9.65 kilometers) east toward Fair Haven, Vermont. As you approach the road to the William Miller cemetery and chapel, the road will straighten out and you will see a New York State historic marker sign pointing left toward the Miller Chapel.

Take the road to your left (just before the Vermont State line) .6 mile (1 kilometer) to William Miller cemetery on your left. Enter the cemetery and you will find William Miller’s grave just about in the center of the left half of the cemetery. It is a monument nearly six feet (1.8 meters) tall with a scroll-type design on the top of it. Buried beside him are his wife, parents and other members of the Miller family.

Continue on the “T” in the road where a sign points you left toward the William Miller Chapel. You will go a little more than .6 of a mile (1 kilometer) on this road and you will reach the chapel on your left. Just before reaching the chapel a driveway leads to a house barely visible in the woods. This was William Miller’s house. It was purchased by Adventist Heritage Ministry in 1984. Just beyond the house is the chapel, and behind it off to the left is Ascension Rock.

Approaching the Site from the East

If approaching the Miller farm from Rutland, VT, take Highway 4 toward Fair Haven, VT, and Whitehall, NY. Just beyond Fair Haven is the bridge that crosses into New York State. The first road to your right after the state line leads to the Miller sites. You will see a New York State historic marker sign pointing right toward the Miller Chapel. Follow the road .6 mile (1 kilometer) to William Miller Cemetery. See above for directions to other Miller sites.
